What is in a typical share?

A typical weekly share will be 8-10 lbs of 6-8 varieties of vegetables. Over the season the farm will include a portion of everything that they harvest. 

Here's what a weekly CSA share would look like. 

• 2 lbs onions
• 2 lbs potatoes
• 1 lb brussel sprouts
• 1/2 lb mesclun greens 
• 1 head cabbage
• 1 head garlic
• 1 bunch kale 
• 1 bunch mixed herbs

Can I purchase a half share?

Probably. Rogowski farms does not sell half shares BUT since you will be purchasing your share through the Vassar Food Co-op there is a good chance that we can find someone else hoping to buy a half share and pair the two of you up. Otherwise we recommend finding a friend or two to split with, OR purchasing a share for your whole house. For a house of four that would break down to around $5.60 per person per week, and for a house of five it would only be $4.50! 

How often will I receive shares?

Shares will be available for a weekly pick-up every Wednesday from 12-4 in the College Center. The program will begin April 1st until May 6th. 

Will I know in advance what will be in my share?

We will do our best to make a weekly post of what you can expect in your share, we will also be posting recipes with ideas for what you can do with it! Check out our recipes tab for past recipes as well as printable PDFs for your use. 

What if I can't afford to participate in this program?

Our goal is to promote healthy, local food at Vassar and we will do our best to help you participate because we truly believe in the importance of this program. Because we know local/organic food is expensive and we want everyone who is interested to be able to participate, some options we have in place to help you are:

- Half Shares: If you cannot find anybody to split a share with you but you are still interested in buying half of a share, email us and we will try and match you with another person also buying half a share.

- Subsidized Shares: If you would like a share but cannot afford the full price, please email vassarcoop@gmail.com with your name and the amount you would need subsidized and we will do our best to match that amount.

- Payment Plan: If you can't swing paying the full amount at the first pick-up, please email us at vassarcoop@gmail.com before the deadline of March 30 and we will try to work out a payment plan with you.
